IBC Best Stand Design Awards

The IBC 2019 Best Stand Design Awards recognize the most imaginative use of small shell scheme, medium sized and large stands across the show’s 14 halls.

Strong Winners in Three Categories

For the small shell scheme award, the judges chose Hedge (7.A56) for creative use of the available space with the use of strong visual material. The materials in use showed a high level of sustainability for the stand.

Highly commended in this category were Doughty Engineering Ltd (12.A58) and ToolsOnAir Broadcast Engineering (7.A36). 

ROE Visual (8.B24) took the award for best use of a smaller space up to 100 sqm

The Best Smaller Space Only Design, for those stands up to 100 sqm, the winner was ROE Visual (8.B24), for their minimalistic but impactful design with striking use of technology to draw people in. Highly commended in this category were Electric Friends (10.D20) and SGO (6.A11).

The final award for Best Larger Space Only Design was taken by Arabsat (1.B38), which had a strong visual impact commanding the space with cultural aspects that came through strongly. Highly commended in this category were Viaccess-Orca (1.A51) and AWS (5.C72).

Other IBC Awards

This year’s recipient of IBC’s highest award, the International Honour for Excellence, brought some Hollywood stardust to the RAI as actor, director and producer Andy Serkis accepted the award for his outstanding contribution to the industry and his pioneering work in the field of motion capture.

New awards were also introduced: the Social Impact Awards, which recognised diversity and inclusivity, environmental impact, and ethical leadership and the Young Pioneer Award, which was awarded to Vera Bichler, Austrian broadcaster ORF’s first female football director.
